The Northern Zone of São Paulo is located north of the Tietê River, with the exception of the Jaguara district.
It has an area of 296 km² and includes the sub prefectures of Bairro do Limão, Casa Verde, Jaraguá, Piqueri and Vila Zat.
São Paulo is a very big city with a lot to do in each region. Because it is very large, São Paulo ends up having people not exploring much of the other zones.
Who am I?
Let me introduce myself.
I’m Rodrigo Schmiegelow, an advertiser specializing in Digital Marketing, today I live as a Digital Nomad (what is it), in other words, that I have geographic freedom and can work from anywhere in the world.
I started a trip around the world to get to know places, cultures and regional cuisines and I will bring great surprises from these experiences.
What to do in the Northern Zone of São Paulo
Cantareira State Park
Certainly one of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever seen, it’s ideal to go with family, friends, and your date.
It has many divisions, there are the Core Engordador, the Core Cabuçu, the Core Águas Claras and the Core Pedra Grande.
In the core Engordador it is possible to take a trail that leads to some waterfalls, a perfect tour for that hot summer day.
All divisions are connected with nature, with a very well preserved environment, and it is possible to see some animals during your tour.
I recommend using insect repellent when visiting Cantareira State Park.
Northern Zone of São Paulo – Youth Park ( Parque da Juventude)
The Youth Park is gigantic, with 240 thousand m².
It’s definitely going to be one of the most different parks you’ll ever see, that’s because it was a prison before it became a park and it still has some of its old structure.
Its history is a bit curious, before being a park, there was the Carandiru penitentiary, which was once considered the largest in Latin America. Years ago, there was a very big rebellion, leaving many policemen and prisoners dead. To learn more about this story, visit here.
Despite this, the park is very beautiful and very cool to go for a walk. It has the São Paulo Library inside that offers content in many formats, such as games, DVDs. Besides that,it is accessible to blind and deaf people.
The Youth Park is open from Monday to Monday, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
It is located at Av, Cruzeiro do Sul, 2630 – Santana.
Northeastern Traditions Center
The Northeastern traditions center (CTN) offers kiosks that serve typical foods, a stage with a dance floor for presentations, space for exhibitions, and other interesting things.
The space is open from Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m..
The Northeastern Traditions Center is located at R. Jacofer, 615 – Limão. You can get more information by clicking here.
Northern Zone of São Paulo – Transport Museum (Museu dos Transportes)
The place is divided into four halls and presents many vehicles, documents, photographs, machines and furniture.
It is located at Av. Cruzeiro do Sul 780 – Canindé
Currently, the Gaetano Ferolla Museum of Public Transport is closed, however you can obtain more information on this site.
